Well-known Telugu film director and actor Dasari Narayan Rao passed away on Tuesday, he was 75. According to the doctors, he died at 7 pm on 30th May due to sudden cardiac arrest while undergoing a treatment.
The filmmaker was suffering from multiple heath problems for quite some time. He was in the hospital for more than two months and got discharged on March 28. Well, last week he was again admitted to the hospital to undergo a surgery. Unfortunately yesterday he took his last breath.
Rao’s legacy as a filmmaker will always live forever. He has directed a record setting 151 films in Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi; he holds The Limca World Record for directing the most film. He has worked in more than 250 films as dialogue writer and lyricist. He has also won two National Awards for ‘Kante Kuthurne Kanu’ (1998) and ‘Meghasandesam’ (1982).
Veteran actors like Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan paid their tribute to the filmmaking legend. Superstar Rajini Tweeted, “Shri Dasari Narayan Raoji, my dearest & closest friend… One of the greatest directors of India… His demise is a loss to the whole Indian Film Industry. My heartfelt condolences to his family. May his soul RIP.”
Kamal Haasan with two Tweets, one said “I remember the days spent with Narayan Rao gaaru and Mr. Sanjeev Kumar Ji. Yaadgaar. He was a great fan of Mr. KB. I belong to a great family”.
The legendary filmmaker was also a minister in the Council of Ministers headed by Manmohan Singh.
